This is our largest fundraising event of the year where teams of runners and walkers come together to raise funds for the children our organization supports. Our attending teams and individuals raise money for months prior to the event with their own fundraisers, raffles, receiving pledges and by gaining sponsorships that are advertised in different ways throughout the year.  Please consider registering today! 2017 5th annual 5K Road Race & Walk  

A fun filled family day to raise money & awareness for families of children with Brain Tumors as well as to support The Cory Edward Gaudet Scholarship Fund! This will be a family friendly event with activities scheduled throughout the day to entertain the whole family. The day will begin with check in and some last minute registrations at 8:30 am followed by the start of the relay walk on the track at 9am and road race at 10am. The relay part of this event will last throughout the day ending at 2:00pm. This is open to individuals who choose to walk on their own or those who wish to become a team captain or be on a team of walkers/runners. Teams are encouraged to join forces and raise funds as a group. Have fun with it and create team names and put on their happy faces preparing for a day full of fun. Along with raising funds teams will try to keep at least one member of their teams walking through out the day.  This will be important and reflect what it takes to get through the day in the life of a family battling cancer. It’s a group effort and no one can do it alone. There will be prizes awarded to top fund raising teams & individuals. The road race is open to all ages, there will be cash prizes for top finishers for both male and female runners. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each age group. Along with  prizes for top finishers all students grades 9 thru 12 who register and complete the race will be entered to win one of two scholarships to be awarded on the day of the event.  All female students finishing the race will be entered in to a drawing for one $500.00 scholarship. The male finishers will be entered into a separate drawing for the second $500.00 scholarship.We will also be giving a 3rd Scholarship to a BMR Senier selected by the guidance dept and presented at senior awards night.  We will be posting a schedule of the daily events, so please check back periodically as we move forward & more arrangements for the days activities are planned and organized.

Our 4th Annual 5K Event 2016

We can’t thank everyone enough for your continued support making our 4th Annual 5K Road Race & Walk a complete success raising over $45,000.  Despite the rain we are so pleased to say we had 450 registered participants with 230 runners and 220 walkers.  Directly following the race we randomly select 1 boy and 1 girl to each win a $500 Scholarship.  Toni Spellman a 9th grader from Blackstone, Ma and Jacob Jackson a senior from Pascoag, RI were our 2016 Cory Edward Gaudet Memorial Scholarship winners.  In addition, we will be giving away a 3rd scholarship at the Blackstone Millville Regional High school senior awards night coming up June 2.  As many of you are learning through the years, this is a fundraising event where teams & individuals start months prior to the event asking for sponsors, pledges and hosting their own fundraising events.  We had 18 fundraising teams with our top 3 teams & individuals receiving fundraising awards. The top 3 fundraising teams are as follows: 1st place team Kicking Asphalt with team captain Amy McMahon raising $7,108,  2ndplace team Angel’s Among Us with co captains Mary Desrochers & Denice Lubash raising $5,641 and 3rd place Team Depot with captain Tanya Scott raising $4,234.  Our top 3 fundraising individuals 1st place Amy McMahon $5,278, 2nd Place Tanya Scott $2,904 and 3rdPlace Tracy Bak $1,565.  I could not be more proud of the fundraising efforts of all the teams this year.  I would like to thank a new team Ignite Your Life Nutrition with team co captains Alex & Tiffany Clute, they had a team of almost 50 people.  I would also like to give a shout out to our son Nicholas who in addition to his full time job takes care of our graphic design and website design work. He and his girlfriend Mikayla also headed up a fundraising team Easier Said than Run raising over $2,000. Mikayla thank you for working so hard, reaching out to businesses and getting most all of our raffle items for this year’s event.  Our daughter Nicole had her own fundraising team Never Give Up raising $680.  This year we had two very special teams taking part, Fighting for Emma B and Rhythm’s Journey.  Our brave warrior Emma a beautiful 14 yr old and her family attended our event.  Rhythm is a little boy battling DIPG from Hawaii with local ties. His grandmother, aunts, uncles & cousins joined our event as well. Other mentions Team Got Your Bak team captain Tracy Bak raising just over $3,000 and team Miles for Smiles co captains Jason & Tina Carroll raising just under $3,000.  The support we receive from local and even non local businesses is so amazing and needed so very much.  Whether they are supporting a team, an individual or just sponsoring the event their involvement makes it possible to do what we do.  We also have businesses who donate their time, product and or service to help make our event a success and for that we would like to say thank you.  We had 55 business sponsors this year but would like to say a special thank you to G-Form for being our corporate sponsor and covering the cost of our 5K event t-shirts.

Thank you to our road race volunteers and the Blackstone Police Department for providing detail for this event and keeping our runners and pedestrians safe.

Our 3rd Annual 5K Event was held on May 3rd and was once again a success.

We would like to thank Dean Bank & GDF SUEV for being this year’s Corporate Sponsors, providing our event t-shirts. We are proud to say that with the help of teams, individuals and business sponsors we were able to raise over $41,000. This total does not include the many items and services that were generously donated by local businesses and individuals totaling over $5,000. We had over 180 registered runners, 146 runners who actually took part in our road race on race day and an additional 170+ registered walkers totaling it to be over 350 participants. We thank you all so much for your participation in our event. Congratulations to you both. A third $500 Scholarship was presented to Liam Shaw a Senior at BMR during the Senior Awards Night, this scholarship recipient was selected by the guidance department on our behalf for their Never Give Up attitude. For those of you interested, the 5K race results have been posted on the cool running’s website. Where does the money go? Last year in 2014 were able to financially assist 24 families, some of them multiple times with more than $43,600 in financial assistance. Some examples of assistance we offer: rent, mortgages, electric or other utility bills and car payments. We helped families with Christmas presents for their children. Gas cards to help them get back and forth to treatments. We also purchased a couple of iPad’s for children helping them to past the time and in some cases communicate. We also funding $15,000 specifically to pediatric brain tumor research at Dana Farber with the hopes to someday find a cure for this horrible disease. Our 2nd Annual 5K Event was held on May 4th and was a huge success.  We are proud to say that we have nearly reached our goal of $50,000 coming in with a total to date of  $48,479.91. This total does not include the many items and services that were generously donated by local businesses and individuals totaling over $5,000.

The success of this event would not be possible without the continued support and hard work of all of our team captains and their team members.  We had 28 fundraising teams and 484 participants registered to either run the 5K or walk the track throughout the day.  These numbers do not include the many family members and friends of the participants that were there to show their support. Were does the money go? Included in that there was a $5,000 anonymous donation made to the team total, which we would like to say thank you for.  We would also like to send a special thank you out to all of our business sponsors as well as the business’s and individuals who donated their time, product and services.  A big giant thank you to all of the volunteers that made the day something to remember!  We are looking for forward to next year!
